AIA library boasts of having the largest collection specializing in Islamic archaeology at Bonn University.

The Collection
The AIA’s collection includes ceramics, artifacts, bones, metals, glass, lithics, lab samples, photography, and drawing. The Unit’s assemblage of medieval Islamic ceramics is the largest in Bonn. The collection is grouped into display artifacts, study collections, conservation, and reference collections.
The Lab
The AIA lab is equipped with binocular microscopes, photographic equipment, storage amenities, drawing sets, and ceramic analysis tools. Many AIA courses include laboratory hours aiming to expose students to basic ceramic reading, fabric examination, and residue analysis. The AIA offers its students the opportunity to participate in the process of restoring, conserving, and labeling archaeological finds held by the unit.
