Lakkundi

Brahmajinālaya

The Jaina Basti at Lakkundi, dating from the late tenth or early eleventh century, is a prominent Cāḷukyan temple structure. An inscription lists the gifts made to the temple in 1007 CE. Made of the local grey stone, it combines a closed and a later open hall (maṇḍapa). The additional upper chamber of the temple is not accessible any longer.

Nāgnātha Temple

This is one of the many converted Jaina temples of Karnataka. Raised as a Jaina structure, it is now used by the local Vīra-Śaiva community, who have replaced the original statue of Pārśvanātha with a liṅga.
